SCMC is pleased to inform the residents of the above series of apartments in D1 block that the GAIL Gas supply lines covering these apartments have been inspected, cleared and charged with Gas and are ready to supply gas.

We are forwarding below the email from GAIL regarding safety precautions you must follow, now that Gas lines are charged.

Those of you who want to avail of gas supply should finish remaining formalities, deposit payment etc., as per instructions issued already by our volunteer Mr. Smaran Mudbidri. Connections can be given only after completion of the above. Pl contact helpdesk once you have completed the above.

Other lines for D cluster will be similarly inspected and charges over the next week or so.

Safety Grills

As the GAIL Gas project advances toward full completion, update on the safety grill installations, payment collections, progress timelines, and important reminders is as follows. Your cooperation has been key, and we're close to finalizing these critical safety measures.

This is not part of GAIL's standard installation scope but is highly recommended for safety and operational continuity of gas supply as per GAIL's email shared below in the earlier updates. 

Safety Grill Installation Details

Further to our Feb 25 communication, GAIL Gas requested installing a metallic safety grill at the base of each building around the regulator valve where the underground gas pipeline connects to underground main supply pipes. This is for Service Regulators (SRs) & control valves, not individual flats.

• Progress so far: Primer coating is complete. Two layers of yellow paint are in progress and expected to finish by tomorrow (March 8) and will be in the South City campus on 8/Mar/2026 or 9/Mar/2026 latest.
• Overall timeline: Installation across all blocks (except B1, B2, B3, B4) is on track for completion by March 10. For B1–B4, GAIL is still working on GI pipe installation and TF links; grill will be installed shortly after GAIL completes the GI pipe and SR installation work(expected this week).
• Post-installation: The subcontractor to fabricating the Grills has provided the account summary shared here and transfer any surplus funds above Rs3,50,000 to SCMC. These will be held by SCMC for long-term maintenance, repairs, or upkeep of the grills and transferred to SCMC's successor as needed. 

Payment Collections and Reconciliation

To fund the grills (Rs 450 per subscriber, based on 650 total subscribers), payments were requested as GAIL's apartment-level inspection/surveys to verify piping and riser connectivity (slated to complete by mid-March) were initiated by GAIL.

Current status as of 11:00 AM today (March 7):

• 352 subscribers have paid Rs 450 each, totaling Rs 1,58,500 (as reported by Shri Chinnaraju).
  • Out of which 164 have filled the UTR Reference in the checksheet at block level security
  • Out of which 98 Yet to fill in the sheet so that the entries can be tallied
  • Out of which 42 have not mentioned the Flat# and therefore unable to link to apartment

Some people have not shared the flat#, or, the same has not been reflected in the statement provided on this link

IMPORTANT: Action required from all residents:

• Forward your UPI/NEFT/IMPS payment transaction number / screenshot to Southcity  helpdesk at old chubbier Lakshminarayana and Chinnaraju. 
• Make an entry (fill and sign) in the sheet at the helpdesk, Old clubhouse your block-level security for reconciliation and check-and-balance, which includes the contract to the grill fabricator. 
• This enables us to publish a full statement soon, as per earlier communications. Request residents to pay by UPI/Bank transfer only to the details provided below and not to pay by cash to ensure these transactions are traceable

Important note for post-March 10: Every South City apartment wanting a GAIL Gas connection (now or later) must pay the common Rs 450 charge, collected by SCMC.

Dear Residents

Even as the GAIL gas project moves towards completion, work is going on to complete the last few steps. As per the guidelines provided by GAIL, a metallic grill needs to be installed around the regulator valve at each point where the underground gas pipeline connects to the block-level main supply pipes. This is not part of their installation process, however is highly recommended for safety and security of the gas supply infrastructure.

To minimize transition errors, the contractor working on GAIL Gas Shri Chinnaraju will be working on this. He has provided this cost, and it works out to be Rs 450 per subscriber, based on the total number of subscribers we have as of now - which is 650. Request each subscriber to please pay Rs 450 (UPI or account transfer based payment preferred) to the contractor who is fabricating and Installing the safety grill. He has been the contractor who did the underground piping on behalf of GAIL gas towards the cost of grill installation. The Gail specification for grill work had been shared with Shri Chinnaraju. 

Installing the grill is a safety and operational assurance measure. GAIL guidelines mandates this be put in place details of which are in the contract as provided in the link below

Delaying collecting this amount will delay commissioning the gas to our flats which is due from next week if we are able to collect the grill cost of Rs3,50,000

Kindly ensure you sign on the sheet that its being carried by the inspection team. 

Subscribers are requested to kindly make this payment prior to 28 Feb 2026 end of day. 

To accelerate progress of publishing statement of transfer, the sheet for tracking payments for grill work for protecting the Gail gas service regulators as mentioned in detail earlier is placed at the block security of each block . This includes the contract given to the contractor fabricating the grill work, entering payment reference and includes a column for you to sign acknowledging the same. The transaction reference will be cross checked also with the images shared.  

 Request you to kindly do the needful at the earliest. 

As we collect the Rs 450 for safety grill as described, the same process will be followed for residents who newly subscribe to GAIL Gas in South City. Any excess will be parked with SCMC for community benefit

Kindly do inform your contacts and senior citizens around your house to expedite gail gas connection given the team has completed with linking all our buildings to the main line barring B1 B2 B3 which is expected to be complete by 5th of March.

This is a mandatory guideline by GAIL gas.

A safety audit by gail is being planned for Tuesday by which time it would be good to have the grills in place

This Agreement is executed in good faith for the benefit of all Subscribers and GAIL Gas operations at South City Apartments. The Subscriber List and original design sketch are maintained separately and form part of this Agreement.

Also, In coming days, GAIL gas team will be visiting each of these 650 subsribers’ apartments to verify the piping, connectivity to the vertical riser line etc. This activity is slated to start soon and complete before mid March. At the time of this apartment-level survey to check the readiness of the installation.

Members who have made the payment and send the payment proof to the above two numbers are listed below. The manual collection effort is being collated and will be updated by end of week

Change to your gas Hob Nozzle
Please also note that PNG requires a different sized nozzle to be fixed on your existing LPG stove, which the GAIL team will provide for standard cook tops. Once the nozzle is changed for PNG, you can’t use the stove/hob for LPG (cylinder) anymore - it is dangerous and risks fire hazard. The nozzles need to be changed back for LPG usage if you want to the use the cylinder again. Whether to keep the LPG cylinder or surrender the same is a subscriber’s decision.

Please check government regulations if a household is allowed to keep both a PNG connection and an active LPG connection simultaneously. We are also trying to ascertain the same and will share the information once we have clarity on this.

Please note that for standard hobs(supplied by govt Gas agencies), GAIL Gas have mentioned will supply the necessary nozzle, please await formal communication from GAIL on this front. Should you have under warranty. / high end or expensive hobs, recommend  to contact the hob manufacturer’s service center to convert your stove/hob for PNG. Without conversion, the stove/hob can’t be used with PNG.

 Please note that the standard GAIL Charges (Security deposit for equirement and for gas consumption, isntallation of pipeline inside the apartment etc) will be explained by GAIL team when they come to your apartment for commissioning the gas or kindly call the helpline number provided.

External Pipeline Connecting SouthCity to mainline GAIL Network ✅️

GAIL Gas pipeline connectivity from mainline GAIL pipeline network to South City is complete

Underground pipe within South City  ✅️

All underground lines upto each building end point have been charged with GAIL Gas. However the main valve behind Gate 1 security cabin is shut

The southcity underground pipeline network was connected to main GAIL Gas supply line on 6 Feb 26 between 4pm and 6 pm

Some of the Underground to Building Links setup in 2018 are pretty distant and will require digging of asphalt, this is requested to be reconsidered and if GAIL has any alternatives. C cluster has 2 uptake points, one near the C Cluster to Clubhouse road, and another from Gate 1 to the GAIL gas uptake of C cluster near the entry podium. Also, similarly the inlet to the B3 Bock the work planned in 2018 involved digging from the B3 corner up to the heavy cable electrical to B3. A rerouting was requested by us and GAIL has completed the feasibility of the alternate path suggested and will start work shortly.  The  GAIL pipeline leading from the club house to the blocks A, B, D, which was blocked due to mud deposits due to not closing the pipe end pipes in 2018, certain leaks were detected during the testing phase. The process of identifying the exact location took 2 weeks. This has now been replaced by a new stretch of line. 

All issues with the underground pipeline inside South City have been fixed, the pipes were filled with necesssary nitrogen pressure to monitor for leaks over 8 days. Any drop in pressure was  assessed and  the safety audit cleared on 3rd Feb 26

Pole Markers and Marking stones were installed by GAIL Gas and in place bby1st Feb 26.

C-Cluster feeding points require digging through 3 sewer lines feeding into the C-Cluster are being relocated as the initially identified points near the C-cluster podium and CA2 roadside are being re-routed to a lower-risk area near the clubhouse side of the building. The feasibility of rerouting and design decisions are under GAIL Gas review. Plan & Approval expected coming week 

This plan is under approval by GAIL headoffice and approval is expected by Tuesday. The valve wall is being setup near the Club house side of the C3 block for all 3 blocks.as published on 25/Jan/26 below. The overall work here is expected to last till mid-Feb 2026. 

Safety audit is complete. GAIL GAS IS  charged into the underground lines ON 6th February 2026. After which the splicing of the feeder pipes will be made to the buildings as per GAIL protocol and procedure which should be quick.

Feeder line to Building vertical lines 🕖 09-Feb-2026 to 21-Feb-2026 

This activity is planned from 9 February 2026 Onwards taking 10 days time. The aim is to enable all buildings at the same time. In case there are any roadblocks GAIL will proceed with the buildings that can be provided for. 

Building pipeline (vertical): 🗓  ✅️ Complete

Building pipeline verification and ensuring end-points are ready for connectivity is in progress. Once finalised, the same will be flushed and tested. B4, B2 have the regulator points installed (installed in 2018) behind a tree, which the GAIL Gas team is exploring means to connect the underground pipeline. 

C Cluster has sewer lines and drains that were at risk if digging was proceeded with. Alternative path has been approved to avoid this. Work starting on 9/February 2026

This is now sorted and complete

Work inside each apartment 🕖 18-Feb-2026 to 15-Mar-2026

This will start mid Feb 26 or earlier.  including meter fixing

Incase you are not available  - please provide an alternate contact, should you wish to proceed with the comissioning of GAIL Gas at your apartment 

Please note that PNG will require a different sized nozzle to be fixed which the GAIL team will provide for  standard cooktops. Therefore if you want to refix the LPG cylinder you will need to replace the original nozzle. Therefore to keep the LPG Cylinder or close the LPG is up to the individual. It is recommended as a guidline to return the LPG connection / surrender it once you receive GAIL Gas. 

Please check government regulations if a household cannot have both a PNG connection and an active LPG connection simultaneously. 

This activity is slated to start mid Feb and  complete before mid March 26.

Please note that for standard cooktops, GAIL Gas will supply nozzles (for standard cooktops). Should you have under warranty high end or expensive hobs, please contact the Hob Manufacturer service center to service your hob to connect the nozzles supplied by your Hob company to avoid damage to the hob.

The following charges are likely to be collected at the time of connecting the GAIL Gas

1. Any pending plan per GAIL - payment to GAIL GAS as mentioned above

2. GAIL gas has mentioned that they provide nozzles only for standard cooktops kept on the platform. GAIL is expected to provide a formal statement on this based on clarity requested. 

2.  Safety grill for sensitive valves at building level end points (approx 450Rs) that will be colleected by the GAIL Gas contractor. The grill installation is not in scope of GAIL, the contractor, Chinnaraju is extending his services to perform this at cost. Sample of Grill installation from another installation at building end point is provided below for reference. Any suggestions, kindly fill this form if you have suggestions 

Roadblock near C Cluster leading to Blocks A, B, D - Club house junction✅️

The area here is a junction was  opened for flushing. Safe passage was worked on by GAIL. JLL with looped in. This is complete on 2 Feb 2026. 

Volunteer group listed above and infrastructure experts (Residents Owners) in South City actively participated. Any resident willing to join this team kindly email the address given above. 

Residents are requested to exercise and observe caution as the GAIL gas pits are being opened up. Especially 2 wheelers and senior citizens. We have requested GAIL Gas that the pits not required to be closed and cemented back.

Running Updates as informed by GAIL Gas: 

• 7/Feb/2026:  Gail gas is now within SouthCity

Southcity underground lines are charged with GAIL Gas as they are now connected via the safety control valve behind Gate 1 security cabin. 

This took place on 6 February between 4 pm and 6 pm.

All issues with the underground pipeline inside South City have been fixed, the pipes are filled with necesssary nitrogen pressure to monitor for leaks over 8 days. Drop in pressure test assessed during the safety auditconducted on 3rd Feb.  Enabling supply to reach the bottom of each building via the underground lines.

• 25/Jan/2026:

The part of the test activity of the pipeline laid in 2018, one the RCA is that the end caps were not capped back then. Resulted in a finding that the GAIL gas pipe leakage has been identified. The damaged pipe has been removed and replaced with a new pipe.

The feeder entry to C-Block, also being proposed to bring the 3 pipes at the C-Podiium and C2-Clubhouse-CA2 road to reduce risk of exposure

• 27/Dec/2025: 

As the current GAIL team identified the work done in 2018, a few areas need extensive work to hook up building to the main line, e.g some of the C blocks and the B Blocks, which may possibly require digging up the asphalt. A request has been raised with GAIL in working with JLL to kindly avoid this. The GAIL team is investigating and will provide an update shortly. 

• 16/Dec/2025: GATE1 requires to be dug pipeline work 

The areas marked in red on the photos below is being dug open to lay the GAIL GAS pipeline. 

There will be partial closure of the gate 1 road on 17th Dec, full closure on 18th Dec. The plan is to have partial closure during restoration work (concreting and curing  over 4 following days)

This currently has a concrete area as marked below. There will also be work being carried out near the junction of c2 road and the clubhouse road this week. 

• 15/Dec/2025: Digging initiated by GAIL Gas,  post review by the working group. This is being done by GAIL to flush and clean the pipeline from Gate 1 to B10 children's park

11/Dec/2025: GAIL Gas deploys electrical cable scanning tool deployed to ensure safe passage 

HT Cable locator check in progress by GAIL. GAIL has marked the cable passing location and also marked the place for digging the earth 

JLL is  in the process of issuing a letter to BESCOM for their information and take their consent before start of work.

09/Dec/2025: Flushing activity.

The existing underground pipeline is filled with mud, being installed in 2018. This is being flushed and challenges are being faced by the new GAIL team, due to varying pipe diameter, as per designed by GAIL in 2018. 

The Sugruha volunteer working group team Infrastructure experts (Shri Pavithran & Shri S K Chatterjee) along with JLL also requested GAIL to bring in electrical scanner by the Sugruha working group to ensure no damage to electrical lines.

Softer areas such as mud are being prioritised to be dug to avoid digging tarred areas. It has been requested of GAIL to bring back the quality of the surface (Road/concrete) post the activity is complete

The landscaping team is alerted to transplant any plants as per the landscaping working group.

06/Dec/2025: Internal underground pipe roadblock near C Cluster leading to B & D

Internal South City Pipeline: In 2018, while laying the underground pipe the mole machine used by GAIL Gas had hit a electrical line causing an electrical outage which was subsequently fixed

GAIL team has been asked to work on a safe passage and provide an undertaking that any damage to electrical work will be borne by GAIL Gas.

This undertaking requires approval from GAIL Gas management; once received, JLL will process it. Work on this section is expected to resume towards the end of the coming week.

The GAIL GAS external pipeline is complete. Safety checks and audits are in progress by GAIL, expected to continue until the end of December.

30/Nov/2025: Underground South City:

Internal pipeline:GAIL HDPE pipe jointing work completed at Gate 2 and in-front of the club house today. GAIL milestone installed at gate 1. 

Optimising underground pipelines being worked on by GAIL in working with JLL, to avoid the electrical lines near B3/Gate3.  

Work will be performed over the next few days near each building to connect underground pipes to vertical pipeline of each building, which will require digging up the road at specific points. This is being kept to a minimum

GAIL has mentioned that after completing work that they will restore the same with PCC, after getting testing & commissioing is work completed

21/Nov/2025: GAIL Gas proceeds  !

JLL met with Gail Today with an update

- Existing pipeline review complete

- Cleaning/Testing of internal underground pipelines expected to start 30/Nov

- Connection of buildings to underground pipelines to start in first week of December, B1/B2/B3 block pipeline being optimised, GAIL has found a solution to use a shorter path rerouting the pipeline installed on the building. The pipeline from B3 will be taken B1 to the underground pipeline

- Audit team expected second week of December to check for any leaks, minor leaks will require pipe replacement. They are being extremely careful.

- GAIL Gas External pipe line team lead (for underground and building pipeline)visited South City today, met JLL

JLL met with Gail Today to plan the next steps

From Sugruha Working Group for GAIL Gas coordination: Smaran Mudbidri (Sugruha Working Group Convener for GAIL Gas Coordination), Shri Pavithran (Board member and initiator of this facility in 2018), Shri SK Chatterjee. Nagendra PM from JLL.

1. Gas Supply and Assessment:
   The first step involves ensuring the supply of GAS to South City, the pipeline work is completed. Standard procedures are being carried out including identification of tap points and other technicalities

   An assessment of the existing internal underground pipeline network is being carried out to evaluate its condition, This assessment is being executed in parallel and will be completed before 30th November 2025 which will provide the next steps.

2. Safety Systems:
   Every building in South City will be equipped with a safety cut-off system to ensure secure and controlled gas distribution.
   Curb/Milestones will be installed by GAIL Gas 

3. Maintenance Perspective:
   JLL requested for a central meter to monitor pressure for proactive issue resolution, however, we were given to understand that there is no such meter in their installation standards. 

4. Meter Installation :
   A total of 27 new meters have been installed in the A1 and A2 blocks. Installation for the remaining applicants will continue as per schedule. GAIL team will work through out the day to provide the service to residents as soon as possible due to increased pressure from the residents to complete the long pending work asap.

5. Pipeline Installation, Cleaning and Testing:
   Installation of any missing links, Cleaning and flushing of underground and internal pipelines, followed by pressure testing, are planned as part of system readiness activities.

6. Pending Works and Coordination:
   Pending meter installations and internal apartment-level piping connections will be scheduled systematically. A dedicated camp is being planned in the first week of December 2025 to streamline all remaining meter installations and internal connection work

20/Nov/2025: GAIL Gas is around the finally corner!

 As per updates received from GAIL Gas, we are pleased to share that the GAIL Gas Connectivity to South City is in its final stages.

The pipeline work across the Nala has been completed.

Final activities are underway near Gate 1, including the pipe cleaning and pressure testing.

These are expected to conclude shortly, following this,  standard safety procedures are scheduled for early next week.

Gas supply is projected to reach the South City gates by 30 November 2025, with subscriber connectivity targeted for completion by the New Year.  

We have requested GAIL Gas that the spots are fixed back and mud etc to be cleared.

25/Oct/2025: Pipeline work upto Nayara petrol pump and there on to South City is complete. There is a technical challenge crossing a small bridge stretch of 90 meters awaiting specialized equipment, expected to take till mid November 2025 to resolve

A camp will be planned by GAIL Gas marketing team at the club house around that time to sync up with residents on deposits paid, meters installed/ not installed, internal work and similar matter. This is as per the earlier update .

-09/Oct/2025:  Followed up with GAIL on the pipelines laying outside for 1+ KM to confirm if this work is pending / is it excess pipe. This would help gain an understanding of the time it is expected to take. Also requested that though we are all eagerly waiting for GAIL Gas, that safety and procedure not be compromised. Also understand that Ex-Corporator M Jayaram and MLA Shri M Krishnappa  have been following up, on a regular basis, with GAIL to ensure any impedements are cleared up and have requested prioritizing South City. 

- 08/Oct/2025: The escalation to the MP and GAIL Gas seems to have resulted in expediting work over the past 1 week by deploying additional staff working in shifts around the clock and over public holidays to cover the overall length of the pipeline. The pipeline can be seen installed up to Nayara petrol pump with GAIL Stones along the road sides on the Brigade Millenium road.

GAIL has reported to have completed the pipe laying work from Nayara petrol pump upto South City barring a 90 meter gap near a Nala / bridge at  Naraya Petrol Pump, where they faced some local challenges, which they have overcome,  and also with BESCOM as they are identifying electric wire paths - requiring them to proceed with caution. This work involved takes only 7 to 8 days, however given the complexity, its subject to obstacles they may face. They realistically expect to complete the pipe work before the 19th of October 2025. 

I have requested the GAIL senior member today to request inspecting flats having pending meter / internal pipe installation work and necessary work be planned with the resident. Earlier, GAIL was apprehensive where they had to drill through expensive interiors as this is not in their scope and they cannot take responsibility for damages. This has to be worked between the resident and the GAIL team.  Therefore during inspection the GAIL team/official may request drilling / other arrangements to be done by the resident in working with resident's vendors should they see an issue undertaking this work. This is purely a decision to be taken by the resident SCMC/Sugruha has no advise/suggestions/responsibility in this regard.

Also, given that the pipeline pieces are still seen near the Mini Forest Road and the South City - Balaji Service Station road, that an inspection be made to confirm that the pipeline is installed, complete and ready barring the 90 meters pending stretch. It could be that this is excess pipe and due to debris, garbage dumping and cars being parked, I could not make out if mole trenches are present. I am given to understand that an inspection is planned shortly. Should there be any updates, this page will be updated post the inspection over the next couple of days.

There is also a 300 meter internal stretch for B-Blocks that requires manual digging owing to electrical lines and they will proceed with caution with this stretch. This was brought up in my tele-meeting with GAIL today.

This will be done in 2 phases,  for early applicants: Phase 1, who already have the meter installed.  Phase 2: those who have applied, have received a BP number but don't have meters/internal pipelines installed.  Both these phases are expected to close before Dec'25/ Jan 2026. If the activity moves without many impediments, we may even see GAS reaching South City around late November 2025. 

SCOPE of Sugruha: Sugruha has been coordinating, following up to push GAIL Gas connectivity; and has already introduced the GAIL team to SCMC  & JLL back in June 25, in order to progress technical work inside our Apartment Complex. Sugruha will endeavor to support this as and when requested by JLL/SCMC/GAIL/Residents.

Request residents to be patient and await further information. The process of laying and final connection to households are completely being managed by GAIL.  timelines are indicative, GAIL is working with multiple govt agencies,  impediments could come up and get resolved quickly or could take time. SUGRUHA has been coordinating and facilitating with all agencies involved to expedite the process as much as can be done. Thanks for your understanding. 

- 04/Oct/2025:  Update from GAIL Gas representative: 

1. External Pipeline laying activity from RBI/Gaurav Nagar to South City: The previous external piping contractor was replaced, The new vendor has being appointed and should start work approx by 5th of October 2025, expected to take about a month leading to a date of mid of November 2025. The  pipeline digging will start from Gaurav Nagar (near Elita) via mini forest,  Balaji service station road to Southcity. 

2. Safe digging: Some of the areas where BESCOM underground lines are expected to exist, will require manual digging to avoid short circuit as faced earlier in July. 

3. The internal pressure test in all building was performed early September 2025. 

4. Pending meter installation and internal work: will be resumed once the gas pipeline (point1) reaches South city, expected mid Jan 2026

I made a humble request was made during a Bhoomi Pooja, where the MP and GAIL officials were present, near Konankunte, on 28th August 2025, that work be expedited while ensuring safety and standard procedure is followed.
